Geek Gear Harry Potter Unboxing - July 2016

Happy Harry Potter weekend!!  Oh man.  Are you so excited?!  I am.  I can't stand it.  Today, of course, Freeform begins their Harry Potter movie marathon which will run all weekend long.  Tomorrow there will be parties all over the world leading up to midnight of July 31, Harry and J.K. Rowling's birthday, AND the release of Cursed Child!!!  I am so beyond excited about this.  I'm thrilled that it falls on a Sunday so we can all spend the entire day reading!

Yesterday was the day to kick-off my Harry Potter-filled weekend as me and my Work Potter Pals, Samantha and Noelle, totally kicked butt at Harry Potter trivia!  I'm planning on doing a small recap of this, along with my review of Cursed Child, on Tuesday so make sure to keep an eye out for that!  But another happy coincidence that happened yesterday was the arrival of my very first Harry Potter box from Geek Gear!

This box just got off the ground last month and I saw an unboxing done by Demi Siriusly on YouTube and knew I had to get it.  This box comes from the UK and I was unsure of how the conversion rate would work if I did a month-to-month subscription so I ended up doing a three month subscription.  They mentioned on their social media last month that there would be an exclusive Snape-themed item in the box, which was all the better!  So, without further adieu, let's see this thing!

To start, the box is absolutely adorable.  One thing I love about this is that it actually comes in a bag-type package so I don't have to worry about anyone busting into my box while going through customs and making it's way across the ocean or the box itself getting too damaged in the shipping process.  My box was in great condition and I think the charm of the box adds so much to the magic of it.  I believe that they change the quote on the back of the box every month so that's fun, too!

The cute packaging doesn't stop on the outside, either.  I couldn't get over the cute packaging on the inside!  The little wax seal, the ribbon.  It was all absolutely adorable.  I loved it so much.  I got this box delivered to my work so I had to open it there to show Noelle and Samantha and I had luckily brought my camera with me for the trivia night so I was able to grab some pictures before tearing into it.

Every box comes with a shirt and this was the one we got.  I got a medium and it seems pretty true to size.  It is 90% cotton and 10% polyester so it has some stretch to it.  I don't have really any shirts with Harry on them so I'm excited to have this as my first one!

Next up we got a time turner key chain and an Always house-specific bookmark.  They do ask you if you would like your house to be represented in the box when you subscribe but you can also choose not to pick a house and just get a random house every month.  I like the time turner key chain.  It's really cute and the sand actually moves inside, and the bookmark is really beautiful.  I'm excited to use it with my new book!

Next up is the Geek Gear exclusive item, which is an Always drawstring backpack with the doe patronus and this nice little tag.  I have seen this art floating around on the internet (I'm pretty sure I have it pinned on Pinterest) and I like that it is included on this bag.

We got two oversized postcards that have really cute Owl Post features on the back next to where the stamps go.  I absolutely love the Hogwarts Express one and will definitely be framing that and hanging it up somewhere.  I'm a giant sucker for anything galaxy-themed so to have a Snape print that's galaxy-themed is the best of both worlds for me.

We got a really nice vinyl sticker of Hogwarts (which I have on my computer now!) and a Platform 9 3/4 patch.

We got this adorable cookbook, especially written for us by Molly Weasley, with a bunch of her very favorite recipes and other favorite things, and some family portraits that are too cute.  I can't wait to give some of these a go!

John has a Spock poster that is similar to this.  He thinks they won't be hung together.  He is wrong.  :)

These were a couple extra details on the inside of the box.  I loved that this box was so Snape-centric!  And I loved this whole box in general!  The August box's hint is The Three Broomsticks.  I'm excited to see what they have in store for us in August!  If you are interested in signing up, you can click here for more information on your subscription options!  Geek Gear also offers a a non-Harry Potter subscription box.  The theme for this box in August is Villain.
