I'm very Disney obsessed and John has got me very LEGO obsessed. Put the two together and it spells trouble for my wallet. We popped into Toys R Us over the weekend, as we do most weekends because we're children, and I was crawling out of my skin with excitement to come across the LEGO Disney Princess Belle's Enchanted Castle Set! It isn't supposed to come out until August 1st but LEGO things tend to leak into stores a little earlier than they're supposed to and I am not complaining!
Beauty and The Beast was one of my favorite Disney movies growing up and still is to this day. Belle and Ariel kind of have a mutual #2 spot in my top favorite Disney Princesses list, but no one will ever dethrone Princess Jasmine. She has a tiger for goodness sakes! And so much sass. I think she's where I got mine from.
I remember playing the Beauty and The Beast soundtrack and dancing around in my living room with a basket pretending to be Belle walking through town. I would sing along with all of the songs every time we watched the movie to the point where my Dad told me I could only pick one to sing along to per movie. When it was still in theatres, my Grammy would take me to the $2 movie theatre down the street (do those even exist anymore?!) and take me to see it when she watched me. I think I probably saw it in theatres 8-10 times. I loved that movie. And I still do! Which is why I preordered the movie at the Disney Store even though I already own it but I needed the lithographs! And I also bought a sweatshirt that was too pretty to pass up. But that's beside the point....
I have most of the first wave of the Disney Princess LEGO sets, some built and some not. I have the Cinderella's Romantic Castle set but haven't built it yet (because laziness) so I didn't know what to expect with the Disney Princess castle sets. Just looking at the pictures of Cinderella's Castle on the LEGO website, it definitely looks more detailed around the base and in the actual castle build itself . It's also almost 300 pieces more than Belle's castle. If you're looking to have one of your Disney-loving kids get started with a bigger LEGO build, this might be a good start.

The Characters
Obviously, the dolls are easy to build. The Beast does have a doll head underneath the Beast head and alternate hair so he can be Adam or Beast, whichever you choose. There is a hidden area where the hair is kept (I will show you later), because I guess in this crazy LEGO world he can choose to be man or Beast. He also comes with a cloth cape. Belle is pretty simple and comes with a tiara, which is indicated to be kept in the Wardrobe but there is a hole in her hair so she can wear it also.
Most of the castle characters are brick-built, with the exception of Mrs. Potts and Chip which are printed pieces. Cogsworth, Lumiere, Bimbette and Wardrobe are all brick built in the first bag. They're really quite adorable! Lumiere and Bimbette both have printed faces while Wardrobe and Cogsworth have sticker faces.
Inside the castle, tucked away in the kitchen, is Stove and the rest of Mrs. Potts' family, ready to serve any and all guests!
The Castle
The build for me took about 1-1/2 hours, mostly because I was constantly checking my phone for any SDCC news since I started building it around the time the Marvel panel was supposed to start. I didn't find it to be difficult at all and the castle itself was very easy to build. Most of the walls were pre-made and you didn't have to build any from the ground up, which I remember having to do with some of the larger castles/builds. The windows and features on the outside of the castle are mostly stickers. There are tons of gold accents all over, including a beautiful golden gate with pink gems for handles. I love the pebble path accent on the front, too. I think it's adorable!
There is a small table with goodies that you build in the first bag that I suppose is just to be on the outside since there isn't really a place to put it on the inside. I love the little sparkly dome to put over the cookies. I think that adds a magical touch!
Right in the center of the front of the castle is my favorite part: the stained glass window of Belle and Adam! I wish this was a printed piece but it is a sticker on top of a transparent wall piece. There is also a really neat lion head brick over the top of the stained glass piece that adds to the charm of the castle.
On the left of the front of the castle is what I presume is supposed to be the West Wing, which houses the rose and a really pretty telescope perched on the railing.
Once you get into the back of the castle, outside of the kitchen are some neat features. The area to the right has a bookcase and the portrait of young Adam that the Beast slashes his claws through in the movie.
The book in the bookshelf is a really cool piece that I hadn't seem before that John said debuted in the Nexo Knights set. It's an actual book! You can open and close it and there is a little note on the inside from Belle. I believe this is supposed to be her diary since there is a little lock on the front.
The portrait is on a turntable that spins around to reveal where Adam hides his hair! They instruct you put just put the wig on a goblet but every time you moved the turntable, the hair would fall off. I ended up using one of the little dots that was left over from the first bag to put in the goblet and hold the hair on since I will probably keep the Beast as the Beast.
Then upstairs we have a bedroom and the backside of the West Wing, where the mirror is there so Belle can always keep an eye on her dad.
And then in the foyer, behind the stained glass window is a pretty chandelier!
And that's the whole set! I think it's really cute and a fun set to have for any Beauty and the Beast fan. If you're not someone who builds LEGO sets on the regular, this isn't going to be an overwhelming build for you. And, being that I'm 30 and grew up on this movie, I don't think that you can ever be too old to own this set, either. I think it's perfect for fans of all ages!
And speaking of Disney-related LEGOs, I finally have the full collection of the Disney Minifigures. I was missing Aladdin and John was missing Alice and Minnie so he ended up ordering them off Amazon so we could both have a full set! If you aren't already, follow me on my Instagram at OverTheMoony where I will be featuring them throughout the week!
