I feel like everyone has their comfort lip color, right? Some people feel best in reds, others in pinks. For me, it's nudes. Ever since I really started to get into makeup when I was in college, I lived for a nude lip. I used to stalk makeup groups on Livejournal and watch some of the few OG makeup gurus on YouTube to find out what the best nude lip products were. I remember my first MAC Myth lipstick, which I feel is the ultimate nude lipstick for those super blanked-out lip. And believe me when I say that when it comes to nude lip products, it is far from slim pickings. Every brand has their offering and take on nude lips, so you definitely have a lot to choose from!
For me, I've been living in the drugstore world for the past couple years. Don't get me wrong, I love splurging on quality products, but I generally save those for specific items like foundation, concealer, perfume or skincare. There are many great options in the drugstore for items that you go through quickly, use often, or just want to experiment with, and lipsticks are one of those products.
My favorite drugstore lipstick formula has to be Maybelline. It is comfortable regardless of which formula you try, and they have a color for everyone. Whether you like really bold colors or more subdued, they don't disappoint. One of my favorite things about them is that they have a couple different lines of nudes, including the years-old The Buffs collection, and the newly launched Inti-Mattes collection.
Above are two of my ultimate go-to's from Maybelline: Bare All and Peach Buff. Bare All is the blank-out-your-lips type nude, while Peach Buff offers some color. Both of these colors pair perfectly with my NYX Butter Gloss in Creme Brulee. To me, this is the perfect gloss to top any nude lipstick, especially since both of these Maybelline lipsticks are matte and I like a more glossy lip. Creme Brulee has been a mainstay of mine for years and I don't see it going anywhere anytime soon!

When CoverGirl
came out with the Katy Kat Matte range of lipsticks, I knew I was going
to be getting a couple. Half because of the name and the adorable cat
ears on the bottom of the tube, the other half because pretty much every
shade looked like it was calling my name. It's no surprise, however,
that I gravitated mostly toward the nude colors, and Sphynx is
gorgeous. It's perfect for when you want some color in your nude.
The Neutrogena Color Stick is a really comfortable alternative and is truly no-fuss. It has a hint of a shine to it, but nothing too glossy. The color is very pretty and natural, making this a great product to keep in your purse for a lip color that will go with everything.
It's funny looking at the swatches how similar all of these look, but they all perform differently on the lips. Like I said, the two Maybelline lipsticks are matte, as is the Katy Kat Matte (obviously), while the Neutrogena color offers some shine. Adding the NYX Butter Gloss on top gives transforms the matte colors into something beautiful and new!
